the boring bits, answered
Your account: login, password, invoices, deletion
Nothing here is exciting, which is the point. This is every account question we get, in one place.
Login email
Your login email is also where your sign-up notices and the Monday summary go. To change it, open Dashboard → Security → Login email, enter the new address and your current password, and click the confirmation link that lands in the new inbox (it works for 24 hours). The old address is told when the change is requested and again when it's done, so a hijacked session can't quietly take the account. Nothing else changes — your sheets, your team, your plan, and your two-factor setup stay put.
Password and two-factor codes
Dashboard → Security has a Password card and the two-factor setup. Forgotten the password entirely? Forgot password on the login page sends a one-time reset link to your login email. Two-factor is optional on every plan; see Two-factor authentication.
Invoices and receipts
Dashboard → Billing → Manage billing opens your Stripe billing portal, where every invoice and receipt can be downloaded, and the card on file changed. Only the account owner sees Billing; invited admins manage sheets, not the plan. Pausing, switching and canceling are covered in Change or pause your plan.
Deleting your account
The account owner can do this from Dashboard → Security → Delete the account: type the church's URL name and your password to confirm. Any subscription is cancelled first (if that fails, nothing is deleted), then the church is removed: every sheet and sign-up, the People list and imported contacts, settings, and every admin login, with a receipt emailed to you. It's not reversible, so export what you want to keep first — the People CSV and each sheet's CSV are on Basic and Pro, and we can send a one-off export for a Free account on request.
When something won't load
- A sign-up page shows “not found”: the church unpublished or archived it, or the link lost its ending in a text message. Ask the person who shared it.
- The dashboard looks stale or half-drawn: hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac). If a browser extension rewrites pages, try a private window.
- You're signed out unexpectedly: sessions end after a long idle period and when the password changes. Sign in again; nothing is lost.
- Still stuck: contact support with the page address and what you expected to see. A real human reads it.
Common questions
- How do I change the email I log in with?
- Dashboard → Security → Login email: enter the new address and your current password. The new address gets a confirmation link that works for 24 hours, and the old one is told a change was requested. Nothing changes until the new inbox confirms; then the old address is told it's done. Your two-factor codes keep working.
- I forgot my password.
- Use Forgot password on the login page. The reset link goes to your login email and works once. Signed in and just want a new one? Dashboard → Security → Password.
- Where are my invoices and receipts?
- Dashboard → Billing → Manage billing opens your Stripe billing portal: every invoice and receipt, your card on file, and your plan. The account owner sees it; invited admins don't. Free accounts have no invoices.
- What happens to our data if we delete the account?
- Everything your church put into SignUpChurch is deleted: sheets, sign-ups, the People list, imported contacts, settings, and admin logins. Any subscription is cancelled first, so there are no further charges. Records already written to your church management system (Planning Center, Breeze, CCB, and the others) are yours and stay there — we never delete from a ChMS. Billing records stay with Stripe for as long as the law requires.
- Which browsers work?
- The current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, on phones and computers. Sign-up pages carry no ads or trackers, so ad blockers don't break them. If a page looks wrong, a hard refresh fixes most of it; if not, see “When something won't load” above.
