My embedded form isn't showing on our website
The snippets come from the sheet's Share tab (see Publish, share & embed). Work down the list; the first match is usually it.
The short answer: An embed shows nothing when the sheet isn't published, when the snippet was pasted into a text block instead of a code or HTML block, or when the page you're looking at is a cached or preview version. A sheet outside its sign-up window shows the closed banner inside the frame on purpose.
Check these, in order
- Is the sheet published? The embed shows a draft, unpublished, or archived sheet as nothing at all (the address behind the frame returns “not found”). Publish it from the sheet page; the embed starts working with no change on your site.
- Did the snippet go into a code block? If you can see the code itself on your page — angle brackets and all — it went into a text block. Delete it and paste into your builder's Code, Embed HTML, or Custom HTML block.
- Are you looking at the published site? Builders often don't run embeds in their editor preview. Publish the page on your site and open it in a private window.
- Is it a cached page? A hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac) rules that out. Some hosts cache pages for a few minutes after a change.
- Is the sign-up window open? Before the open time, after the close time, or while locked, the embed shows the same banner and read-only spots as the public page. That's expected; the Settings tab shows the window.
- Did the whole snippet come across? Copy it again with the Copy button on the Share tab. A snippet cut off halfway — in an email, a Word document, a text message — won't render.
If it still won't show
Send us the address of the page on your website and which sheet it should show, from the contact page. A link to the sheet itself on your page, or the QR code, is a fine stopgap — both go to the same form.
Prefer one link for every sheet instead of an embed per event? Your church page lists every published sheet you choose, with open-spot counts, at one address you can link once.
Common questions
- Which block do I use in my website builder?
- The one that takes raw HTML: Squarespace's Code block, Wix's Embed HTML (Embed a widget), WordPress's Custom HTML block, Webflow's Embed element, and the equivalent in Nucleus, Subsplash, Clover, and other church site builders. A regular text or paragraph block shows the code as text instead of running it.
- The form is cut off at the bottom.
- The inline snippet is a frame 620 pixels tall; a long sheet scrolls inside it. To show more at once, change height="620" in the snippet to a larger number — 900 or 1200 — before pasting.
- The popup button does nothing on my site.
- Some builders strip the JavaScript inside the button, which is what opens the popup. Use the inline snippet instead, or link a normal button on your site straight to the sheet's address.
- Can volunteers sign up through the embed, or only on the page?
- Through the embed. It's the same form: the confirmation email, calendar invite, waitlist, and ChMS sync all work exactly as they do on the public page, and the thank-you appears inside the frame.
- Does the embed follow my design?
- Yes. The colors, fonts, spacing, and logo set on the sheet's Design tab (Basic and Pro) apply inside the frame too. The embed shows just the form, without SignUpChurch's site header, so it sits in your page.
- I renamed the sheet's link. Do I need to update the embed?
- No. Renaming the permalink keeps a redirect from the old address, so embeds, printed QR codes, and shared links keep working.
