one church, one account

Join your church's existing account

It happens all the time: the kids pastor signs up for SignUpChurch, then the youth pastor does too, and nobody knows the other has an account. When your work email matches someone already here, we'll tell you, so you can join their account instead of running a second one.

The short answer: If your dashboard says others at your church's email domain already use SignUpChurch, click Ask to join. Any admin on that account can approve it. You'll get an email link, and clicking it moves your login into their account as an admin. Your own empty account is removed.

Ask to join

  1. Look for the card on your dashboard.

Right after you sign up with your church email, your dashboard shows Others at yourchurch.org already use SignUpChurch and names the church.

  2. Click Ask to join.

Their admins get an email and see your request on their Team page. Changed your mind? Click Withdraw request on your dashboard.

  3. Click the link in your approval email.

Once an admin approves, you'll get an email with a link that works for 7 days. Click it, confirm, and you're an admin on their account, with the same email and password.

Rather keep your own account? Click No thanks, keep my own and the card goes away.

Answering a request (for the church being asked)

Requests show up under Requests to join on the Team page, and every admin gets an email. Any admin can approve or decline, not just the owner, so a request never gets stuck because the owner has moved on.

  • Approve only people you know. Admins can see your sheets and your volunteers' contact details. Approving emails them a link, and they're added once they click it.
  • Decline and they keep their own account. They're told the request wasn't approved, and they can't send your church another one.

No answer after a week?

The person who set up that account may have left your church. If you're on staff, contact support from your church email address and we'll help. There's more on this in Transfer ownership.

Common questions

Why don't I see the “already use SignUpChurch” card?
It appears only when your login email is at your church's own domain (like you@yourchurch.org) and another church account has an admin at that same domain. Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and other personal addresses are never matched. If that's you, ask an admin on your church's account to invite you from their Team page instead.
Who sees my request?
Every admin on the account you asked to join gets an email with your name and email address, and the request shows on their Team page. You only ever see the church's name — never who its admins are.
What happens to my own account?
Nothing until you click the link in your approval email. Then your login moves into the church's account as an admin, with the same email and password, and your own empty account is removed.
My account already has sheets. Can I still join?
Not with the button — joining removes your own account, so it only works while that account is empty and on the Free plan. Contact support and we'll combine the two accounts for you.
Does approving a request use an admin spot?
Yes. Free and Basic include one admin besides the owner, and an approved request holds that spot until the person accepts or the link expires. Pro has unlimited admins.
