Connecting takes one click: log in with your Planning Center account from Settings → Integrations (OAuth — we never see your password), and every published sheet starts syncing.
Services scheduling, one sheet at a time
A sign-up sheet and a Services plan describe the same thing — people serving on a date. Link any sheet to a service type and team, and each sign-up is added to the plan matching the sheet's event date as Unconfirmed, so it shows up like any pending request and your team leaders stay in control. Cancel a sign-up and they come off the plan again. Sheets you don't link never touch Services.

What the Planning Center sync gets you

Linked sheets schedule volunteers onto the Services plan that matches the sheet's date — as Unconfirmed, the same way a scheduling request looks, so leaders confirm like they always have.
Match by email, create if new
Every sign-up is looked up in People by email first. Members stay one record; genuinely new folks become one clean Person with name, email, and phone.
Add-only, by design
The whole footprint is find-or-create plus filling a missing phone number. Nothing existing is updated, "cleaned up," or removed — People stays yours.

Exactly what sync writes — and never will
What it writes
- Searches People by the volunteer's email address first — returning volunteers are matched, not duplicated.
- New volunteers become a Person with first and last name, their email as a primary Home email, and their phone as a Mobile number.
- Returning volunteers get exactly one addition: a phone number, and only when their record doesn't have one.
- On sheets linked to a Services team: the volunteer is scheduled onto the matching plan as Unconfirmed, and unscheduled if they cancel. (Planning Center only lets us schedule people already in Services — brand-new volunteers sync to People and start scheduling once you add them to the team in Planning Center.)
What it never touches
- Never edits or overwrites anything on an existing person.
- Never deletes people, and never creates plans, teams, or service types.
- Never touches Groups, Check-Ins, Giving, or any other Planning Center product.
- Never imports or stores your People data — sync is one-way.
Matching keys off the volunteer's email, so on sheets where you've made email optional, a sign-up made without one is never synced — no unmatchable records, no duplicates. The full transparency doc lives in the help center: what sync updates (and what it doesn't).
Questions churches ask
How do sign-ups get into Planning Center?
Automatically, moments after each sign-up (Pro plan). We search People by email; a match is left as-is (plus a missing phone number, if they typed one), and a new volunteer becomes a Person with name, email, and phone.
Can sign-ups schedule people in Services?
Yes — link a sheet to a service type and team, and each sign-up is added to the plan matching the sheet's event date as Unconfirmed. Canceling the sign-up unschedules them. Unlinked sheets never touch Services. One caveat: Planning Center only lets us schedule people who are already part of Services, so a brand-new volunteer syncs to People and starts landing on plans once you've added them to the team in Planning Center. The sheet's dashboard shows each sign-up's status — on the plan, not in Services yet (with a one-click retry), or no matching plan — so nothing slips through silently.
Will it overwrite or duplicate my People data?
No. Records are matched by email, existing data is never edited (the only addition is a phone number that wasn't on file), and sync never deletes anyone.
