Contacts done properly
New volunteers arrive as complete Contacts — first name, nickname, last name, display name, email, mobile — the way your database administrator wishes every import looked.
Match by email, create if new
Existing Contacts are found by email and left alone; only genuinely new volunteers become new records. Duplicates stay rare and mergeable.
One table, add-only
Sync writes to Contacts and nowhere else — no Participants, no Events, no Groups, no Donations — and the only field it ever fills on an existing Contact is a blank mobile phone.

What it writes
- Searches Contacts by the volunteer's email first — returning volunteers are matched, not duplicated.
- New volunteers become a Contact with first name, nickname, last name, display name, email address, and mobile phone — a complete record, not a stub.
- A returning Contact whose mobile phone is blank gets the number they typed filled in — and nothing else on the Contact is changed.
What it never touches
- Never edits or overwrites anything else on an existing Contact.
- Never deletes Contacts.
- Never writes to any other table — Participants, Events, Groups, and Donations are never touched.
- Never imports or stores your MinistryPlatform data — sync is one-way.
Matching keys off the volunteer's email, so on sheets where you've made email optional, a sign-up made without one is never synced — no unmatchable records, no duplicates. The full transparency doc lives in the help center: what sync updates (and what it doesn't).

How do sign-ups get into MinistryPlatform?
Automatically, moments after each sign-up (Pro plan). We search Contacts by email; a match is left as-is (plus a blank mobile phone filled in, if they typed one), and a new volunteer becomes a complete Contact.
Which tables does it write to?
Only Contacts. Participants, Events, Groups, Donations, and every other table are never written.
Will it overwrite existing Contacts?
No. Existing Contacts are never edited except to fill a blank Mobile_Phone — names, emails, and existing numbers are never changed.
What does it cost, and how do I connect?
