undo, for sheets
Deleted a sheet by mistake? You have 30 days
The worst support email we get is three words long: “I deleted it.” The Christmas sheet, eighty sign-ups, gone because Delete was next to Archive and the confirm said “forever” and someone was in a hurry. We could say sorry. We couldn't say undo.
What changed
Delete used to be the real thing: the row and its sign-ups went in one query, and the only way back was a database backup we'd rather not open. Now Delete stamps the sheet and takes it off every page — the dashboard, the public link, the reminder and roundup emails — but keeps the data. Open Deleted under Archived to see what's waiting, when each one will be removed, and how many sign-ups it holds.
What didn't
Deleting is still the owner's call, and Archive is still the everyday way to put a sheet away. Removing one person from a sheet still happens straight away, with their courtesy email. And after 30 days a deleted sheet really is gone, the way the privacy policy says.
Common questions
- Does a deleted sheet still count toward my active sheets?
- No. Deleting unpublishes it, so it doesn't count toward the Free plan's active sheets, and its public link is a 404 until you restore it.
- Who can restore, and who can delete?
- Deleting is still owner-only — it's the one action that ends in sign-ups being removed. Restoring only adds data back, so any admin can do it, the same as un-archiving. Delete forever, which skips the wait, is owner-only again.
- Does the link come back too?
- Yes. The sheet keeps its address while it's in the Deleted list, so a QR code on a printed bulletin works again the moment you restore. It comes back as a draft; publish when you're ready.
- What about sign-ups I removed one at a time?
- Those are still removed straight away — each one is confirmed on the way out and the volunteer gets a short email, so there's no mistake to undo. The 30-day hold is for the whole-sheet accident.
