Text reminders: a “see you tomorrow” that actually gets seen

Email reminders work — until the one Sunday somebody's inbox eats them. A text the day before is the nudge people actually see, and now your volunteers can ask for one themselves.

The short version: Volunteers who check “Text me a reminder” when they sign up now get one text the day before their slot — no app, no account, at most one text per event day, and replying STOP always works. Live on Basic and Pro, alongside the email reminders you already have.

Opt-in means opt-in

The checkbox sits right next to the phone field on your sign-up form, and it starts unchecked — volunteers choose it for themselves, and nobody (not even you) can turn it on for someone else. It only appears on sheets whose plan includes texting, and the plain-language rules live at signupchurch.com/sms-terms.

One text, the day before

About 24 hours out, they get one compact message with what they signed up for, the time, and a link to the sheet: “Reminder from First Church: tomorrow — Setup crew 8:00–10:00 AM (Fall Festival)…” Several slots on the same day collapse into a single text — a nudge, not a notification storm. Email reminders still go out ahead of time (two days by default, or the day before or a week before, per sheet) with the full details and calendar links; the text is the short-range backup that catches the people who skim.

Replying STOP ends texts instantly, enforced by the carrier — and we never send marketing or fundraising texts, to anyone, ever.

Nothing to set up

There's no switch to flip. If your church is on Basic or Pro, the checkbox is already on your published sheets, and reminders ride the same automation as everything else. Fewer “oh no, that was today?” mornings — which is the whole point.
