Carpool sign-ups: drivers offer seats, riders claim them
Youth trips, serve days, retreats — half the organizing isn't who's coming, it's how everyone gets there. The carpool question turns that group-text chaos into two clean lists: drivers offering seats, and riders claiming them.
How it works for volunteers
Add a carpool question to any sheet and everyone who signs up answers one thing: driving or need a ride. Drivers say how many seats they have. Riders see the cars with open seats and claim one — so “who still needs a ride?” answers itself, and so does “whose car has room?”
Everything shows live on the public sheet: each driver, their open seats, and who's riding along. No spreadsheet column, no reply-all.
When plans change (they always do)
The part we sweated most: cancellations. If a driver drops out, their riders don't lose their sign-up — they simply become unassigned riders again, visible to every remaining driver as people who still need a seat. Nobody gets silently deleted because someone else's minivan went to the shop.
